This project was a BLAST to work on, my friends! A few months back, the sweetest couple ever asked me to help them to furnish and decorate their beautiful new home, and of course, I agreed! They were already rocking an adorable rustic farmhouse style with a bit of a French country flair mixed in here and there (hence the name: Little House on the FAB Farm), so I knew this would be something really fun and unique to take on.
Here are the before photos of the great room:
This couple’s main goal was to get moved in and get the house to a livable state as quickly as possible since the holidays are here, so we skipped out on re-painting in the majority of the home (minus a little inset above the fireplace, a tiny little powder room, and a small guest room, which I’ll show you later!), and obviously we skipped out on all architectural finishes (i.e. tile, fireplace surrounds, floors, blah, blah, blah) for the time being. That said, it’s absolutely incredible what a difference the right furnishings and decor made without any renovating whatsoever! The right stuff really can go a LONG way, friends! Check out the afters of the great room below for proof.
This house already had fabulous bones to work with; tons of beautiful natural light, high ceilings, a big open floor plan, and gorgeous wood floors. So, basically, a designer’s dream come true, people! Am I spoiled or what?!
Since the walls were already such a warm beige tone, and I knew we weren’t painting right away, we made our color palette to consist of cool navys, greens, and grays with plenty of warm wood tones, whites, and creams mixed in to balance it all out. I opted for plush fabrics on upholstery pieces and distressed, very rustic finishes on most of the wood furnishings to give off a relaxed vibe. The result is something that is ridiculously cozy, yet still sophisticated, and ultimately inviting. I can’t wait to see this amazing couple thrive in their new home! They’re already off to a fantastic start.
Here are a few more peeks at the main level of the home. I’ll be photographing the rest of the rooms soon, so even more photos will be added to my galleries shortly. Be sure to keep checking back to see more!
So there it is, friends! Whatcha think of the Hill Interiors interpretation of a farmhouse modern style? To see more photos, visit my Gallery Page. As always, I love hearing your thoughts, so drop me a comment below! Have a great week!
