Friends! I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW EXCITED I AM FOR THIS BLOG POST. Seriously. Did the caps do the trick?! Do you think I actually communicated my enthusiasm effectively? Holy. Moses. I hope so. I’ve been waiting so long to announce this!

So here’s the story, people. As many of you know, my hubs, Ryan, and I sold our adorable little starter home that we renovated last Spring (Read about that here). Long story short, the timing was right because it sold FAST, but then we had nowhere to go, so we moved in with my amazing parents for the “short time being” until we found a new house. Well… that may or may not have been eight months ago (Yes, you read that right. My parents are literally saints. I’m still hoping some of that rubs off on me someday).

Here’s where the story gets juicy: Around the time that we moved in with them, my saint parents sat us down and basically said “Hey, we’ve been thinking about moving for awhile, why don’t you think about buying our house?” To be honest, at first Ry and I didn’t know how to react, but the more we thought about it, the more we totally fell in love with the idea.

Here’s the situation – My parents happen to live in: A) the neighborhood we wanted to live in with the perfect schools for our kiddos, B) on a tucked away/ backs up to open space kind of lot, and C) in a house with just the right amount of space for a growing family… not to mention the house’s architecture is epically unique, the neighbors are amazing, AND it’s my childhood home with so many near and dear memories to me there already. My mom and dad have cultivated a home atmosphere that is full of peace and grace, is welcoming to everyone no matter what, is a place where tough conversations are had and laughter and joy is plentiful too. I only hope that we can carry that torch as well as they have as we raise our own family here. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and really an un-likely dream come true for me, personally. Plus, I can’t WAIT to walk through the design and renovation process step by step with you all! Let’s DO THIS THING, friends! (Insert fist pump here) 80’s parquet and wood paneled walls, here we come!

Xoxo,

Alyssa

P.S.  What do you think?! As Always, I would love love love to hear from you all! Some questions for you: Would you ever consider buying your childhood home? If you would, what’s the first thing YOU would renovate? Drop me some comments below!!
