This fun master bedroom makeover project took place in a newly built home. Like many new builds – this home had beautiful finishes and a killer location (like a view of our entire mountain range from the master bedroom window! It really is Paradise, Colorado style!) but it lacked the character and layers of warmth and personal touches necessary to make it feel like home.
Here is what we started with
(there’s nothing like a good “Before” photo, right?!):
Here are the original master bedroom concept and mood boards
that were presented to our wonderful client before implementing the design:
And (Drumroll!) here it is after we added in those cozy layers!
The main challenge of this master bedroom makeover was making sure things stayed sleek, classic and masculine per this client’s requests, and keep things feeling cozy and inviting at the same time. This was achieved by A) collaborating with our client to make sure things turned out juuuust right, and B) by making sure we brought in various wood tones (now the eye travels around the room to pick up the caramel and blonde wood finishes scattered around the room via the mirror, table legs, headboard, etc.), as well as luxurious navy drapes, cozy knit blankets, and leather textiles to add layers of depth and interest to the space. The sleek minimalist element was maintained through the clean-lined black metal console table to anchor the space, the cute mid-mod nesting tables in the reading nook, and the blackened oak nightstands with a minimalist profile. I’m all about mixing and matching finishes when the right elements fall into balance. That’s one of the things that can keep a space interesting!
So, what’s your favorite element here, my friends?! I love hearing your thoughts. Drop me a comment below!
Xoxo,
Alyssa
